AN ELEGANT HALL
The first impression of your property should be positive. A wonderful piece of furniture, a mirror that enlarges the space and the light, and a magnificent table lamp that adds elegance to the design are all must-haves in an attractive hall. This is how Gracia and Leticia de Amescua have interpreted it in this opulent foyer with a big painting on the wall.
ELEGANT TEXTILES TO CHANGE THE APPEARANCE OF YOUR LIVING ROOM
In the living room, the couch is the most important component. The most exquisite textiles are linen and velvet. If you see that your upholstery is torn or worn out, invest in a linen cover to quickly improve its look. The same goes for the pillows; add some lovely coverings and your living area will be transformed. This white couch, chosen by interior designer Natalia Zubizarreta, emanates elegance.
The proportion is another key aspect of the couch. If your living space is tiny, avoid choosing an XL model. All of the parts must be the appropriate size for your room. Additionally, you will prevent cluttering the surroundings and will provide them with space and light.
HERRINGBONE WOODEN FLOOR
Do you want a floor that is classic, appealing, and full of personality? Choose one in herringbone wood for a striking look that evokes royal rooms. Ideal for creating majestic environments. It’s the one that Luca Marias, an interior designer, picked for her own home.
MOLDED WALLS AND CEILINGS
Houses with moldings are thought to be noble and traditional. Make use of this information to improve the aesthetics of your house. You will get it if it is a recently constructed home with a basic ceiling cornice or wainscot. If the floor is antique, though, you may experiment further with moldings on the walls and ceilings.
ORGANIZED SPACES ARE MORE ELEGANT
A tidy home is a beautiful home. Look for furnishings that will aid in the organization of the room. What’s an example? Bookcases that are symmetrical. Because symmetry causes us to see places as more organized. Pepe Llaudet, an interior designer, has designed this space. You may also help yourself by using the strategy that you believe is most suited. The Marie Kondo technique comes highly recommended.
CREATE A PERSONALIZED COFFEE TABLE
Nothing is more unattractive than an empty coffee table. Isn’t there anything missing here? If you don’t want yours to have that lifeless aspect, add some individuality with a head: a tray with candles, some books, a little plant… This similar method may be used in the auxiliaries as well as the dining area. Golden candle holders, architectural and design books, and a vase of flowers were used by Estudio Boira to embellish this wooden table. Perfect!
Making your home’s walls sophisticated is another approach to make it more appealing. Use a colorful paper or a functional and beautiful wooden paneling to cover the dining room wall or the headboard. Asun Antó and Clara Infiesta opted to blend both textured paper and a white wainscot with panels in their dining room.
INDIVIDUALISTIC SHADES with an ELEGANT FINISHING TOUCH
They also don’t have to be obvious. To give your house individuality, you might go for sleek black or dark gray. To prevent the undesirable “wolf’s mouth” impression, use them in places with plenty of light and visibility. The interior designers Teresa Asensio and Chari Manzano opted to paint the bookshelf in a stunning anthracite gray in this beige space, turning it into a focal point and raising the space’s level.
A VERY CHIC TOUCH WITH PALILLERY COVERINGS
What other thing contributes to the elegance of a home? Coverings for the palillery. They’re not only beautiful, but they’re also useful. They may be used to divide areas, such as the bedroom from the bathroom, conceal a stairway, or, in this example, obscure the bedroom’s entrance door.
Jlia Brunet Interiorisme’s interior designer Mireia Torruella covered the living room wall with oak wood panels that conceal the air conditioning and incorporate cupboards within.
YOUR HOME WILL BE IMPROVED WITH ANTIQUE FURNITURE.
Adding an antique object to your home makes it more attractive. A buffet, a chest of drawers, a cabinet… They are always a bonus in the living room, bedroom, or kitchen and provide an attractive touch to the space. If you want to bring this piece of furniture up to date, refurbish it and give it a fresh coat of paint. The chest of drawers in this room has been given a blue patina with a weathered impression, which revitalizes it and adds charm.
ARTWORK IN YOUR HOME GIVES IT AN ELEGANT FEEL.
Embracing art is another way to add an attractive touch to your house. On the couch or resting against the fireplace, a beautiful sculpture or a large picture will undoubtedly create a compelling focal point. Asun Antó, the interior designer, picked a picture by Blanca Casas that, without a doubt, elevates the value of this space.
FOR A WOW FACTOR, USE LONG, PLEATED CURTAINS!
Your house would seem more beautiful if the windows are narrower and the ceilings are higher. To do this, all you have to do is get the curtain placement exactly so. To experience the fall effect, hang them as high as possible. Buy extra fabric than you need to multiply your pleats. The more folds there are in a curtain, the more lovely it seems. Allow them to drag on the ground for approximately 20 cm.
BIG PLANTS, MORE LEVEL
Indoor plants, monsteras, palm trees… Decorate your home with them, and arrange them in a large, attractive pot for a touch of fresh elegance. Naturally, you’ll need to look after them and keep their leaves from deteriorating. A huge lush plant is lovely, but a sickly one detracts from the overall effect. Meritxell Ribé, the interior designer, put an Extra large palm tree in a light section of the space.
INCLUDE MARBLE AND MIRRORS FOR A CHARMING DECORATIVE EFFECT.
With their gleaming surfaces, these two materials exude elegance on their own. Marble is having a resurgence, so you’ll have no trouble finding little pieces or accessories. And the mirrors, which are ancient, spherical, and have gold frames, are always in style. Both of these increase the amount of light in the room, and an attractive home is never dark. Miriam Barrio created this space as a personal effort.
A LAMP OF TEARS, ABSOLUTE LEVEL
The lighting in an excellent home is not bland, but rather plays with nuances. A zenithal light isn’t the sole option. You’ll need to look for lighting on the ceiling, on the walls with sconces, on the table, and on the floor with floor lamps. The level of your home will be raised by hanging a chandelier of tears from the ceiling. Of course, as long as it’s in a contrasting context, such as this dining area with modern furnishings and vibrant colors.
ORIGINAL RUGS TO ADD CHARM TO YOUR HOUSE
Rugs made of cotton, silk, or natural fibers may be used in every area of the home to dress it up and add flair. Your strongest allies will be geometric, ethnic, or classic themes. Don’t limit yourself to the most basic fibers. Choose from a variety of colors, textures, and designs, such as this model with rhombuses selected by designer Covadonga Plaza. Ideal!
A CLASSY KITCHEN FOR A CLASSY HOME
What components contribute to the elegance of your kitchen? aim! Neutral tones, moldings on furniture, gold accents, velvet… Ignacio Dávalos, the interior designer, was able to give this room a sophisticated and timeless feel while maintaining the core of a kitchen: functionality and light.
FOR YOUR STYLISH BEDROOM, AN UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARD
And what about the bedroom? What’s the best way to give it that glitzy look? It’s quite simple. If you go with an upholstered headboard, you’ll be halfway there. A model in linen or velvet will offer you a dignified appearance, and hats off if it’s capitoné like this one! Javier Mederiz, the interior designer, also picked a sophisticated gray wallpaper and an innovative wooden panel to divide the bedroom from the bathroom. Elegance personified!
FOR THE REST OF THE HOUSE, GENEROUS FABRICS
And we’re not just talking about curtains with drapes or different-textured cushions to provide dimension to the couch. Also, the elegant bedding and the dining table’s double tablecloth. There are no fair textiles. Be generous with them, as Pa Capdevila, the interior designer, has done here. What are your go-to textiles for a sophisticated home? Linen, cotton, and silk are some of the most popular fabrics.
MARBLE AND GOLD DETAILS FOR A GLAM BATHROOM
Pay attention to the little elements that will transform your bathroom into a timeless and exquisite space: marble in the wall tiles and worktops, and gold accents in the taps and lighting. Large mirrors add to the sensation of being in a truly luxury spa by making everything appear wonderful. In this appealing project, interior designer Mara Santos has caught it in this way.
AN ORNATE HOUSE IS NOT AN ELEGANT HOUSE.
When redecorating your home to make it more exquisite, keep this maxim in mind. Elegance isn’t about recharging; it’s about understanding how to choose the proper parts so that the setting maintains its feeling of space, light, and cleanliness.
FOR AN ELEGANT HOME, DELICATE DETAILS
Natural wood, glass, and ceramics… In an exquisite home, there are no stridencies. Look for a common thread that runs across all of your rooms, whether it’s a material or a color. Your motto will be harmony and delicacy. Plugins, such as the ones shown in the picture, are a simple method to do this.
HANDLES AND KNOBS WITH STYLE
They’re simple touches that have a big impact. You can make even the most basic and uncomplicated door appear like another by changing the handles and knobs. Of course, inspect the door as well, and if it is in poor shape, repaint it. The choice of a stylish and understated hue, such as this one, will also add elegance.
